Sepenggal paragraf dari Madre karya Dee lestari. Sedikit saya ubah Bali dengan Melbourne. Hanya karena di kota itu saya menjadi "freelancer", seorang yang bebas layaknya seorang Tansen.
Tiket Melbourne sayapun sudah ditangan.
Bertubi-tubi pertanyaan yang sama dilontarkan oleh teman-teman baik.
"Apa yang menahanmu di Melbourne?" sekali lagi kutipan Madre yang saya ubah object yang dipertanyakan.
Tansen tidak bisa menjawab pertanyaan itu dengan pasti.
Saya pun...
Seperti tertohok ketika membaca kalimat terakhir dari kutipan diatas.
Saya tau saya dibutuhkan disini, lebih untuk menenangkan hati.

Apakah di kota ini? Yang saya selalu enggan untuk menempati.
Madre membuat saya berpikir kembali tujuan saya untuk menoleh ke masa lalu.

Stephanie Meyer Twilight Series
I had my week with Stephanie Meyer. Finished off the four saga in exactly one week! Lost my beauty sleep cos of 'em too!
And I wanna say they're worth the sore eyes, but unfortunately, that only apply for the first, Twilight. New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn weren't as interesting and breathtaking as the initial entry of Bella and Edward's supernatural love tale. I can, however, assured you all that they all three could run your emotions amuck.
The books take Bella as the first person point-of-view, but we all know where the intensity of the book focuses on. Edward Cullen - the living (figuratively) Greek God in a picture perfect human form, as Meyer had described in her books. Meyer covers the saga particularly audienced for every Eve's descendants. It's supernatural romantic comedy, with every bit of comedy you'd get from Romantic Comedy.
The Twilight Series are sweet and harmless (in any physical means). Fear though, for the faint hearts. The prose she delivers was holding enormous emotional punch and vivid for the imaginary. Edward Cullen, the perfect human form of a Greek God, the one character that would run in your veins, you brain, your rushing blood. As explicitly told by Jenny Hale "No wonder Bella swoons. So do her readers and not just the teenagers. One motherly bookseller told me, "Want vivid dreams? Then try reading it before bed." Since page one, Edward Cullen had taken over that center stage.
In terms of plot twists, the series divided into 4 separate entities are really drags too much. Point of story was too clear and the climaxes weren't as many and as confronting as that other "Best-Seller teens fiction book" had presented. Stephanie Meyer was to tame given the supernatural backing in her story. The dialogues are sometimes become to tedious, makes us impatient for some act. In Breaking Dawn, Meyer lost her edge. A new character shift the focus of the story from Bella and Edward to this character. When the near finale kicked in, the war that we know is always ended with bloodshed, but in Cullens' war, it didn't.
Meyer presented us with a mixed of PG 13 and something more. The passion of Edward and Bella's is a bit much for teens' in Indo. Here shuldn't be PG 13, but more to PG 16. The anger and bloodshed were too tame, but the romance was excessive for teens in our culture.
If it were me, I wouldn't let my young cousins/nieces to read the series, not until they're above 16.
Especially in breaking dawn where it became too intense, but for the adults I'd say I have to agree with Jenny Hale again, that, "It is Edward who has powered this series' cult status and he has lost his heroic centre stage. Ultimately it is we, the readers, whose lusts are left unsatisfied."
Overall, I would say the series are nothing but good books and good story.
However, they're not fulfilling enough for me to take a second read for each book.
My comment for all is, at least now i know what the fuss is about. And I settled on that.

Stephanie Meyer's Twilight
Reading the book, however, is a whole different story. A night of teens’ lust wrapped in ‘scarily’ Halloween cover. Much intrigued. ;)
Partly bias due to the insignificant remake of the movie, I expected nothing more for the book. I was dead wrong. Words by words can get you so caught up you won’t resist another second to put the book down, let alone pending it for another night. Meyer draws each character so specific, your imagination runs wild!
The book meant for teens’ read. Or so I thought. Meyer eloquently telling the story made me thinks twice whom she targeted. Meyer made Edward Cullen this perfectly dark angel that in every page consists of him, you’d get too consumed by his irrationally flawless being –or should I say flawless vampire?. It is as though Meyer is caressing Ed through her words. It’s almost filthy to read, let alone imagine!
"Oh baby don't you know I suffer?
Oh baby can't you hear me moan?
You caught me under false pretences
How long before you let me go?
Oooh...You set my soul alight.
*Muse."
I’m convinced, it’s not made for kids or teens’ read.
I was torn. Torn by Meyer’s illustration of Belle and Edward’s tangled touch and affection.
Her and I, were two crazies in lust.
And I swore, never to open a Meyer’s book ever more!
To hell with New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.
I’m done as the twilight appears.

AKHIRNYA!
aku selesai baca buku iniii.. !!
setelahhh.... 3 bulan lalu beli bukunya dan ngelirik2 sedikit bab awal, akhirnya hari ini khatam juga! **lama ya???**
yeah, it took me that long to finish it!! although in between i've finished two other books -- ayat ayat cinta & radikus makankakus (yang terakhir bacaan boker banget deh, sangat ringannn!! hahaha).
A cousin introduced me to this book, saying its the bestseller of the year (2007 to be exact!). As I was desperate for another choice of read besides those chic-lit wannabes, I took the book off Gramedia in a heartbeat. Didn't know what the book's about or why it's a bestseller. pokoknya mah grab wae lah!
You all know what this book is about. at least, synopsis can tell you that.
I won't be summarizing or paraphrase it into another paragraph here.
The book -- Laskar Pelangi. the first of the tetralogy.
I like:
the choice of words, metaphors, strong characters with very distinct and varying personalities.
Dislike:
Cara penulisannya terlalu membingungkan.
Its not science literature, nor romance literature, or just plain fiction. tapi campur aduk! bukan berarti having mixed genre is all-together bad. it's just hard to follow.
dalam 1 bab, baru bbrp halaman topik udah berubah.. and then midway it goes back again to main topic. I'm not saying I'm an expert on analyzing literature. That's just how I feel when and after reading it.
Gara2 itu, dari awal sampai mid-end of the book gue masih merasa datar dan bosan. not at all intrigued to what the next chapter would give me. MId-end to ending of the book is where all the great things came to life! Flo came in. thats when things become more colorful. Karakter dia terlalu kuat untuk dibandingkan sama karakter yang lain.. Interesting really, since she doesn't appear til quite the last bit of the book. her role at the end of the book don't really appear much, either. But throughout the book, whenever she appear, her character always outshines the others.
Sebagian bilang Laskar Pelangi ini semi-biografinya Andrea Hirata. Sebagai anak Belitong dan pernah sekolah di SD Muhamadiyah juga, as well as having had Bu Mus as his inspiring teacher. This is a part of his childhood, perhaps?
Yang menarik lagi dari buku ini, kesederhanaan karakter2nya, dan latar belakang lokasi2nya. First off, Belitong. I mean c'mon!! as far as I know, buku yang menjamur belakangan ini kalo gak berlatarkan kota metropolitan.. ya berplesir ke negeri2 antah berantah.
Sedangkan Andrea ngajak kita untuk membuka mata lebar2, dan ngeliat kehidupan di pulau lain di Indonesia selain pulau Jawa. Like saying, Indonesia ain't just Jawa, people! Haha. Nah, thats a joke. or maybe true? Saya yang termasuk buta geografi (especially geografi Indonesia!) dan culturally illiterate, jujur aja nggak tau kehidupan masyarakat pulau2 lain selain jawa dan bali. Disuguhin Andrea dengan Laskar Pelangi, its truly an eye-opener for me. I see things run differently in the other part of the island.
Satu hal yang agak2 ngusik rasa penasaran gue..
apa iya ada seorang yang sangat jenius seperti Lintang? you know, given his circumstances. Mungkin yang dimaksudkan, pintar and not entirely super genius. Or maybe there is? I'm really skeptical on this one.
The ending of the book is quite a cliff-hanger.
Then I thought, prolly thats where the tetralogy play its role?
End of Laskar Pelangi will be explained thoroughly on Sang Pemimpi, maybe?
Laskar Pelangi ends without a bang. it goes smooth sailing as it was the beginning.
It don't play beginning, climax and end sequence in particular. Maybe thats how Andrea sees the journey of life. It don't need a smooth entry, dramatic climax, and end with a bang. Sometimes journey is just as it is. Berjalan aja.. Flow on its own nature.
I dont quite see Laskar Pelangi as inspiring.. but more an eye-opener. Good read, though.
